The purpose of this unit is for individuals aged 11–15 to learn how to recognize risks in their daily lives, understand how the most common accidents occur, and apply practices that reduce the likelihood of injury. Through activities and examples, they will develop skills in prevention, responsible behavior, and self-protection, so they can take care of both themselves and those around them.

After completing the lesson, students will be able to:

20.1.1 The Power of First Aid

Explain what First Aid is and why it is important in helping someone in danger.
Recognize when it is appropriate to intervene and when to seek help from an adult or call 112.
Apply basic First Aid safely, without making movements that could harm the injured person.
Distinguish which actions they are allowed to perform and which should only be carried out by professionals (e.g., not giving medication, not making diagnoses).
Use the Rule of the 3 A’s (Assess – Act – Ask for help) to remain calm and provide proper assistance to those in need.

20.1.2 CP TEAM: Become Your Team’s First Responder!

Explain what a First Responder is and their role in an emergency situation.
Identify potential hazards in the environment before approaching an injured person, in order to protect themselves and others.
Observe signs of danger or serious injury and decide when to seek help from an adult or call 112.
Describe which actions are appropriate for a First Responder and which should only be performed by healthcare professionals.
Recognize the contents of a first aid kit and apply basic hygiene rules when treating a wound.

20.1.3 Everyday Safety – Prevent, Protect, Help

Identify the most common risks faced by people their age.
Point out the environments where they move and where the most common accidents occur.
Activate “Safety Mode” (self-protection and awareness) in every environment they are in.
Anticipate accidents before they happen and adopt behaviors that help prevent them.
