The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has placed the Regional Unit of Evros, in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, under “Red Code” mobilization status from today, Wednesday 18.02.2026, until Monday 23.02.2026, as according to the Regional Governor and a relevant opinion of the Risk Assessment Committee, there is a high risk of flooding phenomena in the area due to rising water levels and the overflow of the Evros River.
In this context, the Municipality and the Region are called upon to immediately convene the Local Operational Coordinating Bodies for Civil Protection (T.E.S.O.P.P.) and the Regional Operational Coordinating Bodies for Civil Protection (P.E.S.O.P.P.).
